Magic/vast computer networks; warlocks, witches/cyber experts; dangerous monsters/governmental regulatory agencies; hostile aliens from outer space/artificial intelligence: this book has everything. And you can add fascinating story line, entertainment, and philosophical challenge. This is a great book I would recommend to almost everyone.

Seminal sci-fi themes: the ability of magical imagery to understand the computer age, keeping personal identity in the non-cyber world secret as a form of protection and power, the potential power and creativity/destructivity of artificial intelligence. Short, easy-reading, and fun; yet, also surprisingly thought-provoking.
