Great Commission Air
Solar panel/battery combos needed to set-up radios in remote villages if Guatemala for an air ambulance services. www.GreatCommissionAir.org

Seven Generaciones
Seven Generaciones is a starting eco-neighborhood project in Arachania, Rocha, Uruguay.
We have 3 families and growing. We're building cob houses, using composting toilets, recycling greywater, growing food, etc. We need lanterns for when we run out of batteries, and a solar panel to recharge what we have. We don't have a refrigerator - wind power is not enough for a regular fridge. If we have a gas one, it would really help. Especially in the summer! We are also looking for a system to aerate our greywater for recycling. We share books about sustainable living and educate children or a sustainable future, so if you have any resources to send, we would really appreciate it! www.7generaciones.org

El Paso Solar Energy Association

The El Paso Solar Energy Association (EPSEA) would like to have some material written in Spanish to add to our web page, or references of books written in that language. They would also welcome other Spanish educational material, especially books on solar ovens and LED lighting. www.epsea.org

Ferrocement Educational Network
The Ferrocement Educational Network is a not-for-profit organization. We have the only online ferrocement discussion group in existance and we currently have over 170 members from around the world. www.ferrocement.net

Food for the Hungry International
Food for the Hungry Int'l in Bolivia, is devoted to helping the poor to provide potable water, health and agricultural training and intervention, and many infrastructure projects. Currently we are finishing a 15 km irrigation canal in a region of the altiplano to extend the growing season for 5 farming communities.
We need to monitor the climatic factors in the area to understand the success or failure of the crops with the use of the irrigation canal. Currently we use a desktop computer at the remote station to download the data from the weather monitoring equipment. The computer is also shared by 6 agricultural and health field trainers who work 20 days a month in the area with the people. There are panels at the site but we do not use an inverter since lighting is dc and so is the radio for communication. our group has a generator that is also shared and is used to generate AC power for the computer but at times it is needed in other communities to show videos for trainings. If we had an inverter that stayed at the station, the computer would be accessible more often and there would be less need for constant coordination for the shared generations. www.fh.org

Gaia
Gaia is a non profit association founded in December 1991. Its founding mission is the promotion of sustainable societies by creating human settlements based on the practice of Permaculture systems and methods. Since 1996, the first Ecovillage project is being developed on a 20 hectares' site in a rural area near Buenos Aires City. We have founded the Permaculture Institute of Argentina and are currently involved in a world-wide Living and Learning Center project. We have organized a number of courses, which have been attained by people from different sustainable projects from all around Latin-America. We are also very focussed on networking. For that reason, we have participated in the creation of the G.E.N (Global Ecovillage Network) in 1995 and we have been very active members since then. We are ENA council members, and function as a South American contact office.

Projects in self sufficiency focus on food preservation, agriculture, water, health, education, housing and technology. www.hungerplus.org

Jovenes con Fronteras
Jovenes con Fronteras is an organization that provides vocational training to young people in Quito, Equador. We have no phone line in our office, and are seeking a long range phone to use with a friend's line.

Ocean Arks International
Ocean Arks International is researching new applications of the Restorer technology which is a floating platform that supports plants to help treat polluted bodies of water or wastewater lagoons. We are interested in exploring the possibility of growing alternative paper pulp plants on the Restorers and harvesting them for use in production. This would essentially turn a wastewater treatment system into a paper producing nursery. We have several funded projects that could incorporate this idea including treatment of waste in a sewage canal in China and a wastewater treatment lagoon for a poultry processing plant in Maryland. www.oceanarks.org

The Renewable Energy Resource Center
The Renewable Energy Resource Center, a non profit organization that works to educate the public about renewable energy and energy efficiency technology, is trying to put together some solar energy equipment for demonstration purposes. www.rerc-vt.org

ShareCircle

The purpose of SHARECircle (or simply SHARE) is to help save lives, create economic opportunities, restore hope and forge a better tomorrow for the orphans of single mothers, and widows of war, and civil strife. SHARE is looking for water purification and solar lighting equipment for 10 offices in different locations around Angola. www.sharecircle.org

State College Friends School

The State College Friends School has recently established a Green Energy Council made up of parents, staff, and interested community members setting a goal of bringing more sustainable energy to the school. They are looking for a wind speed indicator to assess wind power as an alternative for their school. www.statecollegefriendsschool.org

Tara Mandala
Tara Mandala is a Buddhist retreat center, as well as a 501(c)-3 tax deductible religious organization. The organization conducts instructional retreats on their property each summer. They have one 12V and one 24V battery/PV system at present, with a third one likely this year. They have a need for DC lighting for an outdoor kitchen area, latrines, and meeting areas. A total of 20 lights would not be too many. Also, they've been struggling with a Dankoff DC pump system that keeps breaking down. I have advised them to replace this pump with an AC submersible. They'll need an inverter to make the AC pump work, but the budget is strained.

Gift of the Givers Foundataion

GOAL Ireland
GOAL's mission is to respond quickly and efficiently with emergency supplies. We believe that the money we collect must be spent directly on the people who need it most.
To do that, we keep our administration costs to a bare minimum. We also believe it is essential to train local people so that they can continue to provide healthcare and other services long after GOAL has left the country. Each of our projects is staffed largely by local people. Currently, over 2000 local staff work on GOAL programmes worldwide. GOAL is looking for a solar-powered reading lamp for a worker in the Southern Sudan. www.goal.ie

Boulder-Lhasa Sister City Project

Boulder-Lhasa Sister City Project (BLSCP) is a private, non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization formed in 1986 in Boulder, Colorado. BLSCP is helping Tibetans in Tibet through programs in Solar Electricity, Health Care, and Education. In the rural areas of Lhasa Prefecture, 70% of the Tibetan families have no electricity. In 1998, BLSCP began a solar PV demonstration program for these herders and farmers. As many as 330,000 Tibetans are suffering from a deadly parasite. If not treated, this widespread disease can cause failure of the liver and lungs, which leads to a painful death. BLSCP conducts visits to rural Tibet to demonstrate solar PV technology for enterprises, schools, medical clinics, monasteries, and homes and to develop methods for prevention of the fatal parasite disease. Our delegations include solar energy specialists, medical personnel, and others, some of whom are visiting a developing area for the first time. www.bouder-tibet.org
