How to get there

NB Please not that a Visa is required before you enter Mozambique
From Lilongwe/Malawi -
Charter flight to Likoma Island, US$370 for 2 or 3 people, US$624 for up to 5. Price is one way. From there we transfer by boat to Cobue Then down to the lodge. This is US$30 for the boat + US$5 per person. Boat journey takes 1.5 hours from likoma and 45 mins from Cobue.

Ferry - either from Chipoka (1 hours drive from Lilongwe). Leaves Friday evening, gets to Cobue on Saturday at about sunset (usually!). Passengers need to do immigration (on board most of the time) 1st thing Sat morning at Nkotakota, (Malawi). A cabin is US$30 pp. Then we pick up in our boat to transfer to lodge, same price as above. Ferry returns Tues a.m., arr Chipoka Weds a.m.

Ferry - from Nkhata Bay (Northern Malawi), Leaves Monday evening, gets to Cobue Tues morning. Pax do immigration (on board most of the time) leaving Malawi at Likoma, 1st thing Tues a.m. Then our boatas before from Cobue. Ferry returns Sat p.m., arr Nkhata Bay Sun a.m.

Our Boat - from Ngala (Ngala Lodge), Chinteche (Chinteche Inn) on the Malawi side of the lake. Its US$100 for the boat and US$10 pp. This will take 6 or more hours (weather dependant) with the 40hp engine. Direct (via Likoma for immigration) to the lodge.

From Mozambique
Go to Lichinga, either fly there or drive.
From Lichinga drive to lakeshore town of Metangula. From there the ferry leaves Sat a.m. arr Cobue as before, sat sunset. Returns Tues a.m., arr Metangula Tues p.m. US$8 for 1st class deck. Or drive to Cobue from Metangula, 4x4 only as rough road (it is currently being graded and should improve a lot)

This is fullboard with a set menu so any dietrary requirements are needed in advance. Also includes all daily activities that do not use petrol (bush/village walks/visits, canoeing, snorkeling etc).
A visit to Likoma would be US$50 + US$5 pp.
